Grabbing Business Using The Tools In WeCanDo.Biz #sales #business #scrm #wecandobiz

A question I would ask all of our members is “Why are you members?  We know that our profiles are highly valuable for SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) purposes, and we know that many see the advantage of being in a directory which is something WeCanDo.Biz has never seen itself as.

When we established the company, we were determined to offer a mechanism where our members could both fulfil their greatest business needs and also find sales leads so that they could sell to people who are asking for products and services in real time.

Our Biz Needs feature fulfils the former requirement and our unique and innovative Twitter Sales Leads Tool creates opportunities for you in a way never seen before.  If this had been available to me when I was a Sales Director, I would have ensured my team were using it constantly; there is no lead without a need.

We do all the hard work for you; simply hit the light blue button, make sure you are signed in with Twitter, pop in some key words and away you go.  You will be presented with people asking for what it is that you do in real time with threaded conversations (Twitter and other Twitter clients do not do this) and you can then automatically create a sales process at a click of a button within our Social CRM system (which is behind the purple button if you haven’t already explored.

The Twitter Sales Leads Tool is by far the most used part of our offering and real business is being transacted all the time.  Following a long (free of charge) trial and bedding in period, we will be migrating this tool to our Pro level of membership in the near future.  Please come along and try it for free now and see the enormous power and benefit.

WeCanDo.Biz and SOPA #blackoutSOPA #socmed #sopa #pipa #wecandobiz

On Wednesday, January 18th we came together against the overreaching proposals of SOPA & PIPA. Although there was no single centralized coordinating entity, there was one principle: freedom of the Internet. It’s important to recognize that this doesn’t mean all content should be free or that piracy is acceptable. People who create with words, pictures and sounds are just as valuable as those who create with code, and all deserve a system which protects both their creativity and their income. But SOPA & PIPA were not meant to be part of this system. They provided too many opportunities for abuse, inherently favored the status quo of big corporations and did not take into account all the changes in the landscape since the DMCA was passed.

By rejecting these bills - and that was absolutely the right thing to do - our community inherited two responsibilities. The first is to remain vigilant and active within politics – be conscious of how you vote, how you spend your money. The second is to work collaboratively with the creative ecosystem to balance rights and revenue. As technologists we cannot simply say “it’s just a platform” – we need to be thoughtful and accountable for how our tools are used.

#BlackoutSOPA doesn’t intend to be the place where you can accomplish either of these goals - instead we recommend you become active in the organizations listed below. At the same time though we’re not disappearing. You’ll be watching and so will we. We’ll keep the technology running so feel free to change your avatar whenever you want. And if needed, we’ll be back with new badges and a call to action.

Thank you for being part of something amazing. We look forward to the future.

@grex & @hunterwalk

SOPA and PIPA which for those of you who may have been living in a cave for the last few months are essentially US antipiracy and copyright protection bills have been more than somewhat topical recently. At WeCanDo.Biz we broadly support the campaign to stop both bills (albeit that one has been withdrawn in its current form).

So far we have remained pretty silent, we are after all a UK-based organisation but lets be clear; these pieces of legislation can and will affect all of in the industry. I for one don't want to be subject of extradition proceedings because one of our members post or even links to something which someone else asserts is their intellectual property.

So, what do you think given the recent developments?

Companies Face Fines as Much as 2% of Sales Under EU Privacy Law - Bloomberg #socmed #wecandobiz

4

Companies face fines as high as 2 percent of yearly global sales for mishandling or losing personal data under an overhaul of European Union privacy rules.

The 27 EU data-protection agencies would be able to sanction companies that don’t comply with tougher rules on handling personal information, proposed by the European Commission today. Online-advertising and social networking sites will also be covered by the policy, updating the EU’s 17-year- old data-protection policies.

The EU overhaul would also clamp down on data lapses such as Sony Corp. (6758)’s six-day delay in warning customers about a cyber attack that exposed more than 100 million customer accounts, the second-largest online data breach in U.S. history. Google Inc. was fined 100,000 euros ($129,600) last year by France, one of the few European privacy agencies with the power to levy financial penalties, over the company’s accidental collection of personal information from wireless networks.

“We will finish with this scandal,” said EU Justice Commissioner Viviane Reding at a press conference in Brussels. “Companies and organizations must notify serious breaches as soon as possible which means for me 24 hours” to the national regulatory authority and to the person whose data has been compromised.

Under the draft rules, serious violations such as processing sensitive data without an individual’s consent or without any legal justification, may be punished with penalties as high as 1 million euros or as much as 2 percent of a company’s yearly sales, the commission said. Less serious offenses would be punished with smaller fines.

‘One-Stop Shop’

The proposal will reduce the number of regulators a company needs to contact for data-protection issues across the region as the regulator of its home base will become a “one-stop shop.” In practice, this will mean that Ireland’s agency will be in charge of regulating companies like Google Inc. (GOOG) and Facebook Inc., which run their European operations from the country.

Wim Nauwelaerts, a lawyer at Hunton & Williams LLP in Brussels, said businesses welcome having one point of contact to reduce the legal uncertainty they currently face from multiple jurisdictions.

“Inevitably some data-protection authorities are going to receive more requests for clarifications,” Nauwelaerts said. “It’s going to be one of the challenges of data-protection authorities going forward, to make sure that they are adequately equipped.”

‘A Real Cost’

Companies could save as much as 2.3 billion euros a year as redundant, contradictory or unnecessary reporting requirements are eliminated, Reding said. Businesses currently face “a real extra cost” from “contradictory data-protection requirements,” she said.

The Business Software Alliance, a group which counts Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) and Apple Inc. (AAPL) among its members, said the proposal’s prescriptive approach to how data should be collected, processed and stored may “bog down companies with onerous compliance obligations which could inhibit digital innovation.”

All Business members on our site get a QR Code which points people to their WeCanDo.Biz profile, which can contain address and contact information and links to your website, Twitter feed, Facebook Page, LinkedIn profile, YouTube channel, website, blog and more.

Latest Corporate blog update...the content returns #wecandobiz #socmed #scrm

I have managed to track down 150 or so historical items for the WeCanDo.biz blog. This represents pretty much the entire back catalogue so I am happy.  Everything is there, the text, the links and the images.  The part that is missing is the comments from our readers and members.  Some articles had over 500 comments so that represents a huge loss for us.

But, we can build from here.

Thank you for your patience.
